Tioman Island, Malaysia: 5* Japa Mala Resort and Spa

Travelling in Asia has always been an adventure for us.  This trip we ventured to an area called Tioman in Malaysia.  We stayed at one of the resorts which in our opinion was perfect for a honeymoon getaway, with rooms hidden in the forest on the hillside overlooking breathtaking ocean views.  The resort is unspoilt therefore making it the perfect place to unwind and relax.

Arriving from Singapore, we headed down to Kuala Lampur as these neighbouring countries are so close by one another.  We then travelled down to Pulau to the speed boat area which is a 15 to 20 minute bouncey drive on the turquoise blue ocean towards Japa Mala Resort.

Upon arrival, we were greeted by the friendly hotel stuff... easily checked in and served a wonderful island welcome drink.  Our log cabin was fantastic, erched high above the luxuriant jungle canopy with a full view of the stunning ocean.  The cabins are all situated only a short walk from the white sandy beach.

With various pricing options (based on the type of accommodation you prefer), this little hidden gem amongst the Tioman Island marine park is value for money.

Being an eco-result, meaning it was built without disturbing the natural surroundings... this boutique resort can only accommodate about 30 guests at a time however if you decide to visit during the off peak season, you will more than likely be able to make a booking at a highly discounted rate.  Be wary though that the weather plays a huge factor with island holidays so try to factor in a time whilst the weather is still good.

The resort itself albeit located on an island, features an outdoor pool, two dining options (Tamarind Tioman Restaurant which serves Indochinese and Thai meals and Mandi-Mandi restaurant which offers more Western meals).  Free WiFi is also available in all public areas.  Each cabin is tastefully decorated with wooden interiors and quite a few windows which allows for natural lighting.

It was on this trip that we scuba dove for the first time.  What an amazing experience to be able to feed the many exotic colourful fish with bread sticks.

The resort being on of the most romantic places we have stayed at, will definately see us returning in years to come.
